While working in the corporate arena for over 30 years, I volunteered in numerous areas assisting children and adults with various needs. Recently, I had the opportunity to work with adult women who were terminally ill; I provided a weekly tea party just for them. This turned out to be something that really delighted them, and it was something that they could tell their family and friends about during their last days. I received so much joy out of taking a different teapot and a different kind of tea and visiting with them for a few hours two or three times a week. I would also visit nursing homes and church groups and throw tea parties for ladies and young girls there. This has been a great opportunity for me to spend time with those in need and also to share my collection of teapots. I love seeing people enjoy life and explore new opportunities. Recently, I took a client out to a grocery store to find foods that would be agreeable with her medical condition. She had never used a scanner, but I gave her the opportunity to scan her own food. She was thrilled to be able to do this on her own, and I enjoyed teaching her to find a barcode and scan the item. Smiles are worth a thousand words to me.
