Martha Kowalski becomes reflective when she thinks of the journey she and Dan’s father have taken with their son Dan. “He lived at Ridge Home for many years and moved from there to group homes and then host homes. We learned fairly quickly that we preferred the host home model for care because we could get to know one person or a couple caring for Dan, rather than lots of different staff throughout the day."
Both of Dan’s parents feel they can rely on Colorado Solutions to find the right living setting for Dan, who needs help with dressing, eating and other day-to-day activities. “We had a wonderful host home provider who became very ill and returned to his hometown. He eventually died of cancer and we all mourned his loss. Everyone worked with us to find another good match for Dan and that’s when we met Eric and Lusy. They have created a wonderful home for Dan. He enjoys their sons, loves day trips to mountains and other activities,” Martha said.
“Carol Black, who supervises host home providers, stays in touch with us. Dan had an emergency situation come up not long ago, and Eric and Lusy were with Dan at the hospital. Carol kept us updated until we could get there. That kind of excellent service gives both Dan’s father and me peace-of-mind.”
